To Hold and Set Free
To hold on like the fruit clinging to a tree,
that would be constricting myself.
And to freefall entirely, the stem — clipped,
that would be relinquishing a hope.
Instead I choose to trust
And surrender.
That’s the source of the very real love,
that beats with such tangible rhythm.
Surrendering to myself,
Surrendering to the Universe,
Surrendering to the One,
Surrendering to the Everlasting.
She will float,
as I do,
Specks of light
In the primordial mixture.
Everfloating, never knowing.
As trust burns deeply into my heart
And the inklings of doubt and worry fade
We we will go where we will.
And as she turns to face me,
I look deeply into her longing eyes
And I smile
Because
Love is trust and
Trust is love
And life itself isn’t deep enough
For my surrender.
We dance in unison
A perfect pair
Into a future unknown,
But for the light that shines.
As we melt into each other
And the laughter overwhelms,
As I hug her,
I realize
We hold on to each other
While we’ve set each other free
And we know in every breath,
Who we want to be.
